Circulation Services
Library hours are:
Tuesday and Thursday 10-7, Wednesday and Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-4, closed Sunday and Monday.
Sign up for library cards and computer use at the Check-out desk. There is a $15.00 fee yearly for those outside the Elgin City limits as of October 1, 2019.
Interlibrary loans are managed at the Check-out desk.

Youth and Teen Services
Lap-sit Program for newborns to 2-year-olds on Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:45 with children's librarian, Melinda Torres.
Storytime on Tuesday at 10:30 with volunteer Jan Raby.
Craft afternoon Wednesday at 4:30 with Ms Melinda.
Family Movie Night is third Thursday from 6-8.
Summer Reading Program in June and July with four different age levels.
Watch for other activities and programs advertised in the library and in newsletter. Dia De Los Ninos/Day Of The Child celebration in April and Fall Festival the 1st Thursday in October.
Reference Assistance
The library staff is eager to help with your reference questions. We may need to take a name and number if the question takes over 3-5 minutes to answer. You may also make requests from the website's left column under: About Us, Contact Us.
Library staff can issue patrons a Texshare Card so that the patron can access the Texshare Databases themselves.
Outreach Activities
Children's books that are donated and not put into the library's collection are saved for the Blue Santa program of the Elgin Police Department.

The collection contains 37,275 items with about 70 newspapers, magazines and other periodicals. Approximate numbers for the different areas include:

The staff appreciates any suggestions made about your needs and the collection. We have cards at the check-out desk to fill out to make requests.
Community Spaces in the Library
The library has a meeting room with a table and eight chairs, three study rooms with two chairs in each and other tables and furnishings to use throughout the library. Please call 512-281-5678 to reserve the meeting room. The study rooms are first come, first use. Beginning January 2020 the Civic Center use will be exclusively for elections, City Council, Library and City of Elgin functions.
